trip information
With great meaning in its name “five treasures of the high snow” lies Mt. Kanchenjunga the third highest mountain of the world between Nepal and India with the height of 8586m. The most popular and magnificent mountain of northeastern Nepal was first conquered in 1955 by the British team of Joe Brown led by him himself and George Band, 50 years after the first attempt to its summit in 1905.
Similar to most remote 8000-meter mountains, the approach on the Kanchenjunga expedition takes you to the eastern border of Nepal, trekking through unspoiled and remote areas in the Arun valley before arriving at the basecamp. The climb to Mt. Kanchenjunga involves one of the longest horizontal climbs above 8000 meters making it a very demanding mountain that requires well-planned logistics and good, strong support. Four high camps will be made above the base camp before reaching the summit of Kanchenjunga. Camp II to Camp IV is the most dangerous route as we need to proceed through the icefall and avalanche-prone area thus climbers must require experience and a high level of physical fitness.
